Do you have a story to tell?
Rogue Writing is a spontaneous writing practice designed to get you in touch with your authentic writer's voice. Leaving your inner critic behind, you will put pen to paper and write freely, trusting your intuition to guide you. A great practice for seasoned writers and complete beginners alike, Rogue Writing offers you the opportunity to discover the words —poems, stories, captured moments— that are percolating just below the surface waiting to be expressed by you.
"When we learn to trust that what lies hidden within us is worthy of spontaneous expression, we discover who we are and we let others in on it. And our lives change."—Nina Wise
What's a typical class like?
Rogue Writing groups meet online once a week to give you a spark of inspiration and the freedom to dive in and write. Using quotes, poems and our own senses as inspiration, we jumpstart our imagination and write without stopping for 10-15 minute rounds. We then share what we've written without critiquing or editing. Your only assignment is to show up and write freely in each class meeting, generating writing that you can later edit to your heart's content, read to friends, turn into a blog or simply keep as a piece of spontaneous self-expression.
"Rogue Writing has been a godsend for me during this difficult time of my life. Sheila creates a safe, non-judgmental, inviting space, offering a gentle invitation to my own inner exploration. She meets me in the moment, connecting to our humanness. Her poems and writing help me keep going and living in a world I can relate to."--Jo Sopko, MFT

"There’s something soul healing for me when I gather around a table with other people, putting our phones away for two hours, and pulling out our pens to tell our stories so we can document what it feels like to be a human being. It trains us to get out of our own way, to untether ourselves from the masthead of formality and pleasantry and to tell the truth, write it raw, and let go of what other people will think." --Laurie Wagner

"Sheila creates an intimate and inviting container for us all to feel our most free, expressive, vulnerable and creative.
I have gained such a sense of community from this practice, as well as produced several pieces of writing that I can hone into poetry or personal essays. Sheila makes this happen in an effortless, authentic way and it is a gift."—Paula S
